Hi I’m Heather Hammell, the owner of Restoration Myofascial Release LLC. I came to practice MFR by accident. I had graduated from Massage School in 2004, at that time my husband had come home from a long deployment and had herniated a disc in his low back. He was sent for surgery and unfortunately he woke up from surgery far worse then when he went in. For years I treated him with traditional Swedish massage. He was in a great deal of pain, and had a total of 4 surgeries to correct the original surgery. By 2010, he was using a walker, wheelchair, and a cane to assist his ability to walk and get around. He was also discharged from the Navy. Through a friend, I decided to go to Sedona, AZ and I took Facial Pelvis Myofascial Release from John Barnes. I had no idea what I was going to learn, I was really just happy to have a break from my home life.
While sitting in the audience listening to the powerful effects that MFR could have on a person with chronic pain, tears began to stream down my face. I knew that if we could get my husband to Sedona, he could very well return to a pain free and active lifestyle. Immediately upon my return home I set my sites on getting my husband on board to receive this powerful work. I treated him myself with good results but knew my knowledge at that point was limited. By June of 2011 we made it to Sedona. He went through the airport in a wheel chair and used a cane to walk everywhere. After three treatments, he was able to hike and climb Cathedral Rock. It was amazing. We agreed that he wasn’t done though and would need to return so we saved our money and he went back to Sedona in August of that year for a 2 week long intensive where he had 3 hours of therapy a day. He came home completely changed both emotionally and physically. This improved our lives, our children’s lives, and changed my career path. Since then I have become an Expert level MFR practitioner and have taken every seminar offered, most of them 3-4 times in a race to provide excellent, high quality therapy for my patients. I continue to learn from John and now enjoy assisting him at Seminars. It’s a fun life and I enjoy it. I work for patients to deliver the best outcomes for a pain-free and active lifestyle.
