John Barnes Myofascial Release is a safe and extremely effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle and sustained pressure into restrictions to eliminate pain and restore function. Therapists will hold these pressures for a minimum of 5 minutes which creates a viscous flow and what is called the piezoelectric phenomenon: gentle pressure allows for fascia to elongate and re-hydrate.
Trauma, inflammatory responses and/or surgical procedures create fascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures. There are currently no standard medical tests for fascial adhesions and restrictions.
The use of John Barnes Myofascial Release allow the therapist to look at each patient as a unique individual. Our one-on-one therapy sessions are hands-on treatments during which our therapists use multiple Myofascial Release technique. We also provide independence through Self Treatment education, and postural awareness.
Each Myofascial Release Treatment session is performed directly on skin without oils, creams or machinery. This enables the therapist to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascia.
Our Therapists spend a great amount of time studying with John Barnes and learning the techniques that can return you to a pain-free and active lifestyle.
